*Proposal #1 - Personal Tandems. * Currently, we don't have anything in our
policies & procedures regarding personal tandems. A policy should be in
place to help clear up any confusion for pricing, reimbursement and
limits. This year alone, I heard 4 different ways to charge based on
unwritten rules. It gets confusing for all involved. I'd like to propose
the following policy - which I believe should be part of Section 3, part 4
(Tandems)....
E. There are 2 types of personal tandems: Family/Friend of TI.....and
Family/Friend of a club member.
1. For the F/F of the TI, we would charge for 2 slots to 10K. TI
would be responsible for pack job...and would not be paid. Gear rental is
not charged.
2. For the F/F of a member, we would charge for 2 slots to 10K +
gear rental (if using LSPC gear) + pack job. If TI wants to charge the
instructor rate, then an entry must be made on the paysheet.
3. Limit a maximum of 4 personal tandems per TI, per year. That's
the total # of both types of personal tandems.
*Proposal #2 - Honorary Lifetime Membership*. Currently, our By-laws
(Article 3, Section 3, Part 1b.) state that a majority vote of the members
at any club meeting where quorum is present shall be required to award a
lifetime membership. I'd like to change this to...
1b. A unanimous vote of the current Board members shall be
required to award a lifetime membership.
1c. Any voting club member may submit a nomination a member to the
Board for lifetime membership.
My reasons for the 2nd proposal...
1) Needing a quorum of members may disrupt or delay the timing of the
award if it were planned for a special event.
2) Lack of secrecy....especially of the nominee is present during the
meeting.
3) Takes the wind out of the presentation of the award - when a 1/3 (or
more) of the membership already knows.
4) Although unlikely, it could lead to an awkward discussion if there's a
disagreement.
5) It could lead to a free-for-all....like Board nominations. Hey, what
about this guy? Or, what about that guy? I think it loses the
significance of receiving the award.
These changes were proposed by Cory.
