maybe since they cannot define 'open body of water'

then we will use our definition of 'floatation gear'

There are 4 "ponds" from 600, 800, 1,200, and 2,000. I have no issues asking them for anything or asking questions of why or what we need to follow. This is a new adventure for me as well.

but to be 'good-guys' we could oblige them

My big question is ??? where the open body of water within 1 mile

south by Werner Park , an open body of H2O - 1.83 miles
Wehrspann Lake - 2.52 miles
Zorinsky Lake - 2.94 miles
or
are they counting swimming pools ?

are they calling Papillion creek a body of water ?? if so every jump made at NE69 is in violation of the AC 105

careful of the precedence that gets set

Larry,

This is what has been presented to me, you have more experience then me on this but sounds like we have to follow part 105 accordioning to this FSDO.

AC 105-2E

  g. Water Safety Equipment. Flotation gear should be worn whenever the intended exit point or landing point of a skydiver is within 1 mile of an open body of water.

personally would call BS on that

there is no FAR that says a parachute jumper has to wear a floatation device thus there is no mention of it being waiver-able because there is nothing to waiver !!!!

A FSDO Inspector making up his own rules as he goes - next thing you know , he will had another rule that is not in the FAA guidance he is suppose to follow

Team,

I spoke with the FAA, if we do this jump all jumpers must have flotation devices on. This is not wavier-able as its not on the list of things that can be wavered per 14 CFR Part 91 section 91.905. I will be making a post and email for members to sign up with this information included.

Yes, move forward with the demo. Can you get the schedule of events that morning so we can determine jumps times? I believe the event lasts until 11am and the club currently has 6 tandems in the morning (2 @ 9, 10, & 11). May require some juggling but we can make it work.

Also, I’m available to man the table and jump at the STEM event. You can list me as the responsible party on the FAA paperwork.

Team,

I am working on getting this together today, I noticed one of the planes was close on hours, last time this happened we canceled a demo due to being down to one plane. I got a lot of flake for that so I want to make sure that we want to move forward with planning this demo before I submit paperwork etc…. Please let me know.

David
